T-Shirts and Party!

Fellow Torpedo Monkeys,

The t-shirts have arrived and look good. Send us some pictures of you wearing them at various locations. We'll post them here and add them to a flickr stream somewhere.

The shirts are available to be picked up at Mandy's parent's house starting today. Drop by or give them a call (if you don't have their number, email Mandy or I and we'll get it to you).

If you're unable to pick up your shirt beforehand, we're planning to bring the remaining shirts to the race for people to pick up before it starts. Call or write Mandy or I ahead of time and we'll arrange something if you can't get over to her parents to pick your shirt up.

We're hoping to do something after the run. It will likely be the evening of the 10th, giving everyone the chance to clean up and rest a bit. We're not sure what or where, but I've added a poll to the blog asking this very question. It's on the right-hand nav, with the title, "What to do after the run" poll. Vote for your choice and we'll see what happens.

I hope everyone's training is going well and that you're all looking forward to to the run/walk. For those of you who are planning to run, and/or planning to convince someone else to run/walk, but haven't signed up yet, you've only got until May 5th (7 days away) to sign up. They're not doing registrations the day of the race this year, so do it to it!

Some quick info:

5K Run starts at 8:10AM
5K Walk starts at 8:15AM

Hello, hello....

Hi everyone! I hope your training is going well and that you are looking forward to the race on May 10. Has everyone signed up yet? If you have any questions on signing up, what to expect, or on anything else either send me an email or post a comment and we will see if we can help.

Running at 70?!?!?
I hope that I am still running when I turn 70 as well as older. This Runners World article gives some insight on what type of training should be done during each decade. These suggestions should help you on your way to achieving YOUR goals. Remember that every person is unique with different bodies, speeds, and goals. Therefore I suggest you utilize these ideas to improve your training and not to as a comparison tool. :)

OK, let’s talk boobs. Guys if you are reading this it won’t be as interesting as you would hope….

I am pretty cheap when it comes to the clothes I wear. I step away from that when I buy my running shoes, and have decided that it was time to buy a new sports bra. My brain says to run down to Meijer to pick up the cheapest one I can find. I am not going to, and it is not only because we don’t have Meijer in Denver or anything really of the equivalent, well we have Wal-Mart but….I don’t like to shop there. I have decided that it is time to get a sports bra that fits and has been well tested with high reviews. Luckily Runners World has a fabulous article just on this topic.

Along with the article, check this link out to see if you are actually sizing yourself correctly.

BRRRR it's cold out there!!! What should I wear?
I ask myself this question often before I go out for a run. I have just stumbled across a handy tool here. I plan to try it out next week when our temps are supposed to go down again. If you get a chance to try it out and wear what they suggest let us all know how accurate you think it is.

I'm not feeling so wordy today, but perhaps another post will go up at the end of the week.

Until next time...

Hideous Layout

I think our idea of a layout was to be so bad that it sparked protest, leading to someone wanting to take up the reins of a redesign, or at least basic ideas about how to put two colors together. As it stands, I sort of like the way it looks. It's like MySpace imagined by Blogger. The only thing it needs is an auto-play music applet that blasts Creed at you when you load the page... that's actually a good idea. Maybe I'll find said crappy applet and load a running song on it. That way, people can plug headphones into their laptops and go running, carrying their laptop between hotspots to keep the song streaming. Awesome!
